Verizon iPhone 4S in France?

Is there any way I can unlock the Verizon iPhone 4S to be usable on one of France's mobile carriers? Or is it impossible because the Verizon iPhone is CDMA?

Verizon will unlock the GSM side for international use if you are a verizon customer in good standing.
