Syncing Outlook with iCal to share with other iCals

This seems pretty simple, but before I do it and screw up anything, I wanted to double-check with MacRumors.

My wife's work computer uses outlook, so we are trying to find a way to sync her Outlook with iCal and then share our iCal between each the two of us.

She uses an iPad & iPhone, it's just at her work they use Outlook Express.

Did you ever manage to do this? I'm quite sure it was a long and convoluted process with earlier versions of both Outlook and IOS but am hoping, with the latest Outlook, there has been a breakthrough?? Fingers crossed! Ohhhhhh Apple ...
