Back in the old days, you'd have to wind it up every day.

Now I know why they changed the iPod Nano back to it's previous larger format.....

Not as a leap forward in design, but just to make space for another product..

considering how many people bought wristbands for their previous-generation iPod Nano's I think there's a pretty good market for it, especially if it intelligently integrates with your iPhone.

Now if only they could work in some sort of kinetic recharging like Seiko, or solar power like Citizen....

I'm confused. Does this comment suggest that you think Apple will regress from their (supposedly) current 2 day life rather than achieving their (supposed) goal of 5 days?

Or does it mean you're planning on buying the Samsung version?

Like it or loath it, wearable tech IS coming.

Apple will be in the market, so will Google, Samsung, LG, HTC, everybody.

Watches, glasses, shoes etc You name it.

Sure, it would be great to sit here and talk about Desktops and Laptops all day, but they aren't the future.

An Apple television set had been the front-running rumor for Apple's next major product, but its development has reportedly been slowed by content negotiations.
So basically this means it won't hit the shelves before iOS7 does, which presumably would be around september-october as has been the case with the last two editions . So if they actually manage to finalize the watch this year it would most likely be available to buy somewhere between september-december.

If Apple wants to join this market this has got to be one beautiful / functional piece of technology out of the box.
If users have to charge it everyday like an iPhone it's not gonna work with consumers.

IMO... if this story is true it's not a good move... why bother with a watch.

They changed it because it's a bit cumbersome to use a 1" screen on its own without a strap. It does make a great watch, though.

Battery life is still an issue in its iPhone, does that mean the iPhone 5 is still "in beta" ?

Think ill stick to a watch that lasts five years on a single battery, or better yet, a self winding watch that lasts forever

No i think it means that he is expecting the Apple watch to be like the iPhone and require tethering to a power source to last more than half day.

This is not a situation unique to a smart watch.

Portable things run on batteries. Batteries hold finite charge. Deal with it.

Wouldn't it be cool if they used something like a thermocouple to harness the heat in your body to power it?

In case you haven't noticed PCs are dying. Jobs even declared it the "Post-PC" era as I recall.

Nice sarcasm, but if anyone thinks that Apple will put out a watch with low battery life they are crazy in the head.

I think it depends on the implementation.

I think this would rock if it acts as an extension of the security of the phone. Like a key that allows fast access to bypassing security if the watch is nearby. Walk away and the device is locked. Pick it up and it simply is working. Tied into various bio-metrics, and this could be a very cool device for all sorts of things from faster access to highly secure mobile payments.

Battery Life

I'm sure the iWatch will be a great device.

However, I have no faith in Apple to create a small device with appropriate battery life. iPhone 4S and 5 both fail me on 'real world' 'intended' usage. I doubt the iwatch would tolerate me checking the time every hour; or even having a bluetooth link on the go all day AND evening. 'oh you're not meant to use it for an entire day etc'. Sigh.
