Maybe a combination of Netscape and the flash plugin could be coerced to play a movie on a loop. I don't know if it can be convinced to be completely full screen or not, but it's an easy solution to try.

What OS does said classic Mac use?

Is it a Mac Classic specifically, or do you mean to watch videos on a "compact Mac" of any type?

The Color Classic can play old-school Cinepak and Sorenson codec QuickTime videos just fine.

The (black and white, 68030-based) SE/30 and Classic II can be cajoled into playing video with some effort.

The 68000-based Classic, SE, Plus, and before are completely incapable of playing anything approximating video.

You will *NOT* get any copy of Flash Player to run on any compact Mac. The first version of Flash to support video was in 2003, long after any 68K support was dropped.

If you were to dig up a positively ancient copy of Macromedia Authorware, you could create a video-like presentation.

Would a screen saver suffice? I mean, if it has to be video this doesn't work, but if you just want some movement on the screen

We regularly saw "Moire" and "Pyro" screen savers.

With further thought, you might be able to put something together with Macromedia's old Director-Shockwave self contained DXR engine.

IIRC that's how Apple put their early Mac demos together.

Those Macs were black and white. They couldn't play video I'm not really sure what it is you want, really.

Further, here is a source of tools you may be able to use. I'm not familiar with them, but you may be able to use these to achieve something suitable.


Before Macromedia Director, there was VideoWorks from Macromind:
VideoWorks v1.0

VideoWorks II

Then Macromind became Macromedia:

Macromedia Director 3.1/3.1.3
