I voted for the 3rd option - with the unstated assumption that I would actually be in the market when it's released. I won't be, so I wouldn't actually be buying it.

Also, the 2nd option seems incongruous to me. The GPU in the current mini is not at all capable of pushing that many pixels and maintaining the current level of performance. If Apple did that, they would be releasing the worst iPad in history. The GUI itself would have horrible stuttering issues.

Any news ?
- Display provider (LG/ AU Optronics / Samsung / Sharp...)
- Processor (A5X / A6 / A6X / A7) ?
- Amount of RAM (1Gb/ 2Gb) ?
- Capacity (16 / 32 / 64 / 128Gb) ?
- Battery ?

Thanks :D

If there are hits to weight, thickness, battery life, and heat - like with the move from iPad 2 to iPad 3 - then no. Those trade offs were significant. If they can keep those things the same, or maybe very slight hits, then probably yes. Unless iPad 5 is amazing.

Too many variations of the answers, but YES.

Not enough for "no" cause some folks have an ipad already with Retina. Not sure they would be swayed to the new Mini especially if other specs are not up to snuff. Guess they could vote for option 2 but I doubt I'll go for it since I have a 4.

I just purchased a mini, but I have never been spoiled with retina. I don't think i'll get the 2, but whenever I do upgrade it will obviously be to retina.

I answered No, for the fourth option. I already have a retina iPad 3 along with this Mini. This should do me nicely for a few years to come.

I would, if the battery life did not take a hit. The Mini is a perfect size and weight, just holding out for a better display. Maybe one more ounce, Retina, and a few mm with a few surprise features would be perfect.

The ipad with retina is one of the best devices out there for viewing pictures. So if it does not have retina I won't consider it.

I will upgrade my mini if it has retina display and LTE support at 800/1800/2600 MHz. The current UK iPad mini and iPad 4 supports LTE on 1800MHz which will only work on EE (and Three at a later date). I would think new devices won't be too far off so that they will work on the newly auctioned off 800/2600MHz for O2 and Vodafone and the additional 800MHz spectrum obtained by EE and Three.

I would absolutely love a retina iPad mini with LTE. As soon as they make one, and it's got reasonable battery life, I'm on it.

For me, seeing was believing. I was never sure what a smaller iPad could offer until I started toying around with one my father bought. I knew almost immediately that it was a better experience for me personally than my current iPad 3.

If the Mini had retina I would've sold my iPad 3 and purchased one already. I am basically waiting to see what rev 2 offers. Even if it doesn't have retina I will likely pull the trigger anyway.

The going rate for iPad 3 16GB Wifi+4G on eBay means I can basically sell what I have and pickup a Mini with the same connectivity/storage for the same price.

Yes, but if they reduce the bezel on the iPad like it is on the mini, then I might end up just getting the next gen iPad. The light weight of the mini is a big selling point for me.

an iPad Mini Retina would be the first Apple product that i would stay up until 2am to preorder...and i would have no shame either

I think I will be staying away from any new iPad until it is jailbreakable; most of my iPad experience would be dull and boring without jailbreaking.
