Planning on using one or the other for games, but not sure which is better? Any help would be appreciated. Also, how easy is it to get windows updates using either? Just a matter of updating windows like normal?

Probably bootcamp. Parallels and VMWare are not that good for "emulating" 3D. Not that bootcamp will mean earth and sky, but at least it doesn't have to deal with the "VM engine running through".

As for the second question, updates are handled like normal, since there is no difference from running it on a "proper PC" vs bootcamp vs VM.. the difference being hardware compatibility.

Bootcamp is better for gaming. When you are using parallels you are using additional resources that will diminish the gaming experience. Even though parallels supports 3d acceleration it really wasn't meant for gaming.
