The Philippines...
MPCore.

Because if you try to look at it, it is just the core of the whole computing experience and hardware. All other peripherals are expanded externally.

Pixar Software

What software are pixar using? Maya? Really excited to see the videos..

Hey - Pixar uses a multitude of programs to get them from beginning to end.

To start out during the storyboarding process they use a custom in-house developed program called Pitch Doctor (which also integrates with Photoshop). Then main character blocking is completed in Maya which then sends the data to Presto (their custom in-house developed animation system).

Essentially, the majority of the heavy lifting is done in their custom systems, but they tie in to the basic programs that animators of all levels use.

For this presentation, they are demonstrating Mari and it's 3D painting and texturing program that was recently announced to go to Mac (previously only Windows).

Hope this helps! We're making sure to keep an eye out to see if we can find the video that was recorded of the Mac Pro demo with Pixar at the WWDC event - if it gets posted we'll be sure to update everyone. An earlier post in this string linked to our site - be sure to stay tuned to read more of what was presented at the event between Apple, Pixar and The Foundry (who demonstrated their 3D painting software, MARI).

The session is under NDA which means no one can live blog it. It would be up to Apple or Pixar to release it!

Surely someone who was there could at least give a description of what they saw.

The Foundry said on the Luxology forums that they'll be posting it in a few days but this was before the actual presentation. Hopefully that hasn't changed.

EDIT: Here's an update from the Modo forums from Jack Greasely:

Quote from Andrew Penick :
how well did the Mari demo go at the WWDC session? details, man!

It went really Well. It was pretty scary talking in front of 3500 people, but I managed to keep it together.

Jonathan (from Pixar) worked wonders with Mari on the New Mac Pros, No crashes, no slow downs! Phew.

The video should be up on the Apple developer website later on today. You can get a free login and watch if you're interested

Someone could if there wasn't the risk of Apple kicking them out of WWDC. :p

The demo was for 3500 people. How exactly do you figure Apple would figure out which of those made an anonymous post on a web forum, and kick them out?

Videos from other sessions are now available, but the Mac Pro Pixar demo is not available...yet?
