Hi all,

I used to have a SSD with 3 partitions on it, which I wanted to re-create. I booted into recovery but when I go to create partitions on the new drive it will only let me create 2 by just splitting the drive. You cannot drag the divider to reduce or increase the size either so not sure what is going on?!

any help please

EDIT:

it seems to have created 2 partitions but with both my drives SSD + HDD, must be fusion or something Apple have done

You cannot use the drop down to select multiple partitions or use the + sign on the bottom?

My screen print is from my portable disk I use to back up my NAS and main drive.

Nope, it will not let me create more than 2. I can have one large one (which is my 256GB SSD and OEM 1TB drive) or I can have 2 partitions both "fused" together I believe.

If you make 2 partitions like below it will grey out the options.

Not sure WTF is going on or if something Apple has changed in OSX 10.8

Anyway to go back to the older way?

Actually might have to take the drive out and re-do it.

I believe if you split the fusion drive to two physical drives you can then partition as you want.
Here's an article that details such an operation: How to split up a Fusion Drive

I haven't done it as I own a rMBP and of course as always make sure you have a current backup before attempting this.
