Hey guys,

Was offered a Mac Mini G4 with 1.25ghz processor, 1gb ram and 160gb hard drive for $75. Not sure if this is a good deal. Was gonna try and install some media server software on it and find a way to hook it up to a tv.

They typically go for $75 - 100 depending on the condition.

I bought a 1.33GHz mini for $96 (incl. shipping). Good little machine. Fast and I'd rather use it than my 1.6GHz iMac G5 I had. Tiny but the person I bought it from took out the bluetooth and wifi. Not cool!

I ended up selling it on ebay and made $63 from it.

I've owned a few of these...the 1.25GHz is pretty slow...unless it also has wifi,I would pass.

Look for one of the 1.5GHz with wifi, then open it up (putty knife) and replace the old "slow" harddrive and you would have a pretty good G4....

Texas, unfortunately.
I remember being offered a 1.42 GHz for $100 a few months back, it sounds like a good price to me.

A 1.25 would definitely be a bit on the slow side, but by no means unusable. I'd go for it if you have the cash to spare. :)

Never expected HD but as a simple streamer I thought it could work. Is there anything else I can do with it

I wouldn't do it for $75 unless it comes with everything that it did when it was brand new. Otherwise, I would shoot for $50 or get your hands on a 1.5 mini like another poster suggested.

Not trying to be a jerk, but if you are just using to to stream why not get a Apple TV? It is not the same....but...if you have an iPad it can be used for a ton more than just a simple steamer.

The G4 can be used for more though, web browsing, office work, etc. $75 is not bad, but I have seen them for less on ebay. Shipping should be cheap on those too, so ebay can be viable.

Ehhh... if I were going to get a PowerPC mini I would really try and look for a 1.5 GHz unless the price was super cheap ($75 isn't really that cheap). Still fast enough for every day usage, and having double the VRAM is nice depending on what you're going to do with it.
