This is getting ridiculous now.

1080p is already an overkill on a phone. I'd be happy with 720p and more performance.

Innovation and real progress isn't happening where it is most necessary: Battery life, cameras, software.
I actually fully agree with this statement before except I'm starting to like 1080p as a standard.

True, it is overkill but I figure 1080p TV's are pretty standard and would like my phone to display exactly the same resolution as my TV without needing to magnify it. 4K TV is still far more uncommon.

Phones like the Galaxy Nexus has a 720p resolution and the Nexus 4 has a 1280x768 res and they both have piss poor battery life than the S4 or One. Lucky to get 3-4 screen time hrs from them while you can get maybe 5-7 hrs on the FULL HD phones like the S4 or One. I actually do notice the difference between 720p vs 1080p on a sub-5 inch screen. The 1080p videos just seems sharper and the 720p videos looks a bit too soft and a little washed out. Would love to get another 1080p phone with the common 400+ ppi on them.

Correct me if I'm wrong but you don't need a phone with a 1080p screen to display 1080p on a TV screen? Because my old Nokia 808 used to do this fine.
