Can't close finder window

So this is going to seem really dumb...

I have a finder window open, but can't seem to close it. Clicking the "x" does nothing. Also, every time that I hit space, it brings this finder window to the front. A double click on space brings up the folder info. After a restart, the folder is still open with the same symptoms.
