7gb of photos but where are they ???

I am cleaning out my HD and after clearing everything out including the photo library I still have 7 gigs of photos ?

I went so far as to delete iPhoto and it's still showing 7gb of photos.

What am I doing wrong?

I use time machine but it backs up to an external HD.

it found 4.8gb of photos/videos .... are you ready .. in iMessage !!!

Now I deleted all the texts I had as I know they can bog my phone down but for some reason even when deleting these on my computer they remained hidden.
