I was facing the logging in problems and deleted the app on my iPod Touch 3G (on ios5.1.1).

I tried to redownload it from the App Store but now it says it is only available on iOS6.

Did Google tweak something in the app to make it for iOS6 users only?

Good guess.

On 5.1.1 you still have the built in app to limp along on though.

I had the same problem, now have to use the lame ass stock Youtube app.

Amazing how they released this update just fine for Gingerbread on Android devices .
