Malware? Macbook Pro Is Sending/Receiving Data With Wi-Fi Off?

Title. According to Activity Monitor my Macbook Pro is sending and receiving a few KB of data every few seconds - with the Wi-Fi turned off (and I don't have an ethernet cable).

I'm confused as to how my mac is sending data with no apparent internet connection.

It's talking to itself via the lp0 or loopback address. This is normal for modern operating systems and nothing to worry about.
