iphone 4s not recognized by mac ios 10.8.5 please HELP!!

i recently went to upgrade to ios 7, along with that i upgraded my mac to 10.8.5 along with itunes 11.1. after this i quickly went to sync my iphone so i plugged it in to my mac only for it to not be recognized by anything. It charges perfectly fine but is completely invisible to my computer now. I even went as far as to reset my iphone (knowing i could restore it with icloud) but still got no results. Now i have no way of putting music on my phone or managing photos, does anyone have any solution to this? this is ridiculous
