OS X ATI Radeon HD Radeon 5770 (any good for gaming?)

hi, i'm looking to buy a new macpro (2008 model)

its an 8 core @ 2.8ghz.
8 gigs of ram
plus the ATI Radeon HD Radeon 5770

will that work for some gaming? (mainly concerned about FramesPS in online First person shooters...)
and would it work better in bootcamp?


i'm hoping to play Counter Strike with this setup....
i'd love to be able to play Counterstrike: GO... but even CS: Source - would be cool..

is that card worth the money... as - i'm only buying it for gaming...
my main use for the computer is music production, but i would like to be able to game properly too.

The only advice I can offer is generalized. Be careful that the model Mac you want can run the games you want (speed of the Mac, not just the GPU). Also, make sure that the games you want to play will run on the latest version of OSX you can install on the Mac.

CS:Source came out in 2004, but lists its requirements:

"Minimum: OS X version Leopard 10.5.8, Snow Leopard 10.6.3, 1GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 8 or higher, ATI X1600 or higher, or Intel HD 3000 or higher Mouse, Keyboard, Internet Connection"

CS:GO is more demanding:

"OS: MacOS X 10.6.6 or higher
Processor: Intel Core Duo Processor (2GHz or better)
Memory: 2GB RAM
Hard Disk Space: At least 7.6GB of Space
Video Card: ATI Radeon HD 2400 or better / NVidia 8600M or better"

If you can't run 10.9 on your Mac, then yes, Windows via Bootcamp will be faster.
