Cursor disappear

Hello,
I am on iMac 21 with 10.8.5.
For the last few days I notice instances when the cursor dosappeared.
I found that I can revive it, by moving my mouse, connected by USB cable, from left to right on my table and after few movements, the cursor reappears on the screen.

Why, and what can I do to convince the cursore to stay alive.

I had that problem even before 1085 for quite awhile and then it suddenly stopped doing that. What caused it I don't know, and why it stopped I don't know either. Not much help but it was fairly common at the time reading other posts about the issue.
