PLease be careful. My device was merely charging, in a well ventilated, clutter free area on the counter. My roommate caught it just as it started to flame. The smoke and smell were HORRIBLE, and there was some damage, but no injuries to people or pets...though I cant imagine breathing burning battery and plastic is advantageous. Ive been in contact with Apple. They have been concerned and helpful, and I brought the computer to an Apple tech today and watched his amazement at the destruction. He tried to obtain a serial number, but it was melted in layers like a shrinky dink. I never really worried about something like this happening. Be mindful everyone, I think of how many times I fall asleep listening to music or a guided meditation, and the computer is on my bed! I dont even want to envision that scene. Thanks for listening everyone.

Thats awful!

I have to ask though, have you ever replaced the battery?

I've seen quite a few of those white batteries swell up and figured it was just a matter of time before one of them exploded. Glad to hear no one was hurt.

Are those the first pictures of the new black MacBook?

But good to know, since I have exactly the same old white Macbook '07 beside my bed for listening to music...

I'm glad you weren't hurt. Enjoy your new MacBook Air with top specs.

*If I wasn't clear above you have every right to a brand new replacement of your choice. If not ANY lawyer on earth would be pleased to make it happen.

There has been a number of recalls on batteries in recent years, even third party ones.

Anyways I think Apple will take care of you in the form of a new computer. ;)
