I posted the other day asking when the new releases would be available for purchase on Amazon because I had a credit line with them. The answers I got were generally "a few weeks". It looks like as of today or yesterday they are available! Just ordered my 15" model and it's arriving tomorrow. No Tax so I opted for the Next-Day Shipping.

Whether tax is charged is dependent on location. I believe New Yorkers are taxed.

FYI B&H Photo also has the same prices as Amazon with free shipping and no tax (except in NY). They also give you Parallels 9 and 1 year of Lojack for free.

False, my prices from the Apple store include taxes. The prices from Amazon do not, because I live in IL and they do not charge me taxes.

The reason I put this up is just in case anyone was wondering if the Amazon prices were still cheaper than the Apple Store w/ Education discount (since Amazon does not appear to offer the Education Discount). Only the 15" rMBP is cheaper and not by much.

Those numbers don't seem right. I'm seeing the high end 15" as $2399 with the education discount.

It is $2399, before taxes. For me, when added to the Cart, even with the Educational Discount, Apple still charges taxes.

edited my orig post to note Apple store prices include taxes.

Just one thing for people to note, your prices from the Apple store will vary due to different tax rates in different places. Chetzar's list should be used more as a rough guideline.

I'm not taxed through Amazon but went with the Apple store anyway. Hoping to get that extra 10% since I went though the the Discover card site.

Thanks for this news. I didn't even think to look on Amazon. Originally ordered a BTO 15 inch with 1tb and the 2.6 CPU. Ordered minutes after the store opened, and still waiting in processing - went with the 512 GB and 2.3 CPU from Amazon - in the end, just couldn't justify almost $1,000 difference for the BTO build.
