Yes. Some of the file locations have changed in Mavs and using the old version could wreck your Mavs install.

I tried it and a window popped saying that my startup disk needs repair: ''To repair your startup disk, restart your computer while holding down Command-R, then choose Disk Utility.''
That's normal (common). Just run repair in the Disk Utility app in the recovery drive. The free block count (something like that) is likely out.
After repairing everything i still get this error. I am not sure why though,
Did the log in the repair window in Disk Utility bring up an issue?

to download Onyx for Maverick, which is there now. But after downloading and opening the file, I get the message that it can't be opened because it's from a unidentified developer.
