how can i stream videos to iPad from external HD attached to Wireless extreme router

Please help

I would like to store my collection of DVD's on an external HD attached to my wireless router and stream to my iPad and Android phone.

Is this possible - any help would be greatly appreciated.

There might be an easier way, but this is what I do.

I have my movies on my time capsule drive. I use an app on the iPad called File Browser. It allows me to browse the drive via wifi and playback movies. And access my other files.
