EDIT: Added a new offer for the Mini to the bottom of the thread.

I have offer from some one who wants to trade a 2009 Macbook Pro for my 2012 Mac Mini.

Assuming the MBP is in good condition would this be a smart trade? I have been looking for more portability.

MBP Specs:
2.26 Intel C2D
2gb 1067 Mhz DDR3
160 gb Hard drive
NVIDA GeForce 9400M 256 mb graphics

Mac Mini Specs:
2.5 Ghz Intel i5
16 gb ram
Intel HD 4000 768 MB graphics
500 gb Hard drive

Any advice would be appreciated.

This is the 2009 Base MBP13. I'd say - no deal. For 500 -600US$ (Value of your Mini) you should get more. The Battery might be down as well. A new one would cost you around 80US$ extra. The RAM should be upgraded and you would want a SSD as well.

Go for a used 2011 MBA11 (4GB Version), you may be lucky and get them around 600US$

Thank you!

Turns out she doesn't even have the computer. She is wanting to buy a MBP on Craigslist, then trade for my Mini. For all of that she could buy a used Mini. People amaze me... :D

She is now offering a 2011 i5 2.0 Ghz with 8 GB ram. Thoughts?

Sounds much better - but the problem with the Battery still exists. Now its on you to decide. I don't know exactly what shape your mini or the MBP is in. Best is - call her.

Good luck

Now looking at an i5 Air, from the specs it appears to be a mid 2012.

I have basically told her to contact me once she has a computer in hand to trade.

I don't NEED to trade mine, but it would be nice to have portability.

My Mini is in a 10/10, it hasn't left my desk (other than a move where it was packed in it's original box) since I set it up.

I guess we'll see how it goes.

Thanks for your help!
