I've lost my contacts for iOS 5.1.1.
I turned on/off the icloud contacts sync, and that brought back some of the contacts.

I'm currently trying to extract the contacts from my iTunes backup, but if there's a known fix that's more elegant that would be nice.

Unfortunately I don't want to restore from backup because mine hasn't been backed up in a while.
