Getting the base model with Iris Pro because I don't need dedicated graphics and already upgrading to 16GB of RAM since I will be using Visual Studio and VM.

Considering getting the 2.3GHz upgrade, but not sure how much sense it makes.

These are important factors for me:

- battery impact of stronger CPU (longer battery life is very valuable to me)
- real speed gains by the 2.0GHz to 2.3GHz upgrade
- increased heat emission by stronger CPU (and therefore fan speed)

Need some advice or maybe some experiences about the 3 points i listed above. Especially regarding battery reduction vs. speed gains. Thanks in advance! ;)

Take a look at geekbench. This is likely to be exaggerated compared to actual use. It might cut a fraction off your compile times. I wouldn't worry too much about the other points. CPUs clock down or disable cores when they aren't under heavy loads.
