Sorry if there are already threads on this. But I have an almost maxed out 2013 iMac, Airport Extreme, Apple TV, and Mavericks. I have tried to use airplay from my mac to my tv and it has an unwatchable framerate. All softwares have the most recent updates. Is this normal. I mean whats the point of airplay if the framerate is unwatchable. I have tried switching the resolution to 720p from 1080p and it doesn't help. Major disappointment if you ask me.

Frame rate is fine on my Airport Extreme network. I have used Mac, iPhone, iPad to AirPlay to Apple TV.
What is your iMac screen resolution? What are you trying to play?
Perhaps your wireless network is too slow or suffering from interference?
