Does anyone know anything about Metro: Last Light? It just came out on the Mac AppStore for $19.99. Before I bought it, I looked around to see it it had controller support, it does. So I load up the game, go to options, the click controls, and I can not click on controller. I've tried my PS3 and Xbox controller. Anything I find in other forums say "Just download the 360 controllers for Mac", "I just plugged in my Xbox controller and it worked", or my favorite, "Macs aren't for gaming". I can't figure anything out... Anyone else know anything?

Have you installed the free open source 360 drivers? If not install them (check that the pad is working in the System preferences) and then try the game again.

Yes. They're the one's. I can't get the 0.12 versions to recognise anything so you may want to try the 0.11 version first.

Can't get either .11 or .12 to work on 10.9.

Crash report after rebooting.

Sorry, can't help you with that, seems to me to be something with your OS or hardware setup is non standard / damaged given others don't get the same crash.

If you have a spare USB HD you can install an OS on the external drive and do a few tests to see if it is your OS installation.

Another test is to see if the crash only happens when you plug in the USB Devices as the crash might be triggered by a gamepad or another USB device.

Best of luck debugging the problem.

third party xbox controller copy

Hi all

Sure this has already been answered but I was hoping to get a clear cut yes/no so that I can sleep at night.

Rather than buying an official controller I was duped into buying a copy from ebay. (it looked real...)

When looking up the controller on my system info it returns this:

Product ID: 0x028e
Vendor ID: 0x045e (Microsoft Corporation)
Version: 1.14
Serial Number: 08C7205
Speed: Up to 12 Mb/sec
Manufacturer: Holtek
Location ID: 0xfa130000 / 6
Current Available (mA): 500
Current Required (mA): Unknown (Device has not been configured)

I wondered if it would be possible to add support for this version?

I cant test it but I'm sure it would work on xbox 360 or windows just not with the tattiebogle drivers.

I'm on a macbook air with Lion 10.7.5

Any help would be awesome, otherwise I guess I'll just have to give up and buy official!

Hey man, that is really interesting. I am currently having trouble getting my EightArc/QanBa Fusion Arcade Stick to work and my arcade stick's product and vendor ids are exactly the same as yours. Look:

Product ID: 0x028e
Vendor ID: 0x045e (Microsoft Corporation)
Version: 1.14
Serial Number: 00000000
Speed: Up to 12 Mb/sec
Manufacturer: HJC
Location ID: 0x04100000 / 3
Current Available (mA): 500
Current Required (mA): 500

It also says the vendor id is from Microsoft Corporation.

Me too. It crashes the system and forces a restart when trying to plug it in or unplug it with System Preferences open. Randomly does or does not recognize it. I guess I'll have to find another solution than a 360 controller? Wasted $40...

Hi Everyone,

I had a similar problem, but found a solution thanks to post #7 on this thread:
https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1581956/

The author of that thread does a really good job of explaining what to do step-by-step so I won't repeat the details here. Basically, you have to install tattieboggle version .08 to get the MAC to recognize the XBOX 360 controller. I tried the .11 version and it wouldn't work for my MAC. Once you install .08, you need to teach the MAC to recognize the XBOX controller by adding the vendor and product id of your controller into the list of controllers that the MAC already recognizes.

Hope that helps!

If an older version of the plug-in works while the newer one doesn't, I believe that's called a "regression." Contact the main developer to see if he knows about the issue and if he has a fix planned.

On second thought, does he watch this thread?

Hey so I have used this before with problems but got it working eventually one time. I have erased my macs memory and tried getting it again this time its not working point blank. I'm using a regular wireless xbox controller, Wireless adapter, and the newest version of software. If anyone can help it's greatly appreciated.

Solution for those using Rock Band Guitars/Drums

I was having a problem getting the rock band usb devices to work. Version 0.07 worked on my mac mini but it wouldn't run on mavericks.

So if you are on 32-bit architecture just install version 0.07 of the driver (you may need to set owner of the driver manually).

to fix ownership run this on every directory in 360Controller.kext (just add another /* to the end):
Code:
sudo chown root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/360Controller.kext/*

If you are on 64-bit system copy my fixed version overtop of it and it works (fixed kernel dependencies).

360Controller.kext.zip

Not sure if this fixes all controllers. But it fixes Rock Band controllers. Hope this helps.

Hello guys,

This solution is for those of you who have the force-reboot problem when plugging/unplugging the wired controllers.

That post is about 0.11 (and OS X 10.8.2 probably)
Anyone got the 0.12 (or any version actually) working with the OS X 10.8.3? For me it can only work when I boot my mac with the controller and whenever I unplug the controller it force-reboot my mac... =/

I have a 15'' MBP Retina (mid-2012)

Thanks! xD

As any forced reboot it's caused by a kernel panic, which in this case is itself caused by some interference between the 360 driver and the Android File Transfer agent/daemon. So the first thing to do is to check if it's running in your Activity Monitor.
(Source: https://github.com/OpenEmu/OpenEmu/issues/376)

Configuration:
- MacBook Pro early 2011 (Japanese)
- Mac OSX Lion 10.7.5
- 2 wired official Microsoft Xbox 360 controllers
- TattieBogle 0.11 clean install (check other posts if you need reinstalling)

Symptoms:
- 360 controller is recognized and works if plugged from startup or plugged once (sometimes)
- Any unplug or re-plug causes kernel panic and force-reboot

Solution :
- Quit Android File Transfer agent
- [Recommended] Remove it from startup items (see below)

From https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/mobile/3hPIZjP0rDo:
And here's the solution to disable the Agent app:
- Go to where you installed "Android File Transfer.app" (I have it under /Applications)
- Ctrl+click --> "Show package contents"
- Go to Contents/Resources
- Rename "Android File Transfer Agent" to e.g. "Android File Transfer Agent_DISABLED"

It also took me a while to basically get the controllers to work but a 0.11 clean install seems to do the trick. I can now play Lego Star Wars with my girlfriend and plug/unplug the controllers without any issues.

Thanks for all the tips shared here! :)

I bought a wired xbox controller and I downloaded the same driver that you have but the problem is when I plug my controller in, the green light will light up for a second and then turns off again! I got tired of this bc I spent the whole past weekend trying to make it work but nothing happen.

Any thoughts of getting this controller working would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks.

+1 and forget the whole past weekend, i have been trying this on/off for 4 years!

EA Sports Controller for Xbox360

Hello,

in case it may help someone, this is how I fixed my EA Sports Controller for Xbox360.

This controller is described as below (in french):

Code:
EA Sports Controller for Xbox360 :

  Identifiant du produit :	0x0131
  Identifiant du fournisseur :	0x0e6f
  Version : 1.00
  Numéro de série :	0708967B
  Vitesse :	Jusqu’à 12 Mb/s
  Fabricant :	Performance Designed Products
  Identifiant de l’emplacement :	0x04100000 / 2
  Courant disponible (mA) :	500
  Courant requis (mA) :	500

The only thing you have to do is to add to the Extra Gamepad installers those two lines (with TextEdit, Smultron…) where it fits:

Code:
PDPEASports 3695 305 \
and
Code:
echo "PDPEASports 3695 305"

I hope that it'll help (otherwise, you can read this post).

Bye,

BLD

Yes and No. Not by default but reading the instructions and comments in this thread you should be able to manually add in your pads USB ID info and get the driver to pick it up, after that it's a per game thing. If that game happens to be a Feral game I should be able to get it working (if you have the game picking up in the drivers).
