Adobe Indesign and Quark will both work for you. They are the industry standards. We use Indesign at our print shop for layout work when creating magazines. It has great PDF export capabilities which is what most print shops will require from you so they can give you a finished product.

Quark is the other alternative and will do the same as Indesign.

MS Word is not even a program we would consider for laying out a magazine or newspaper. It is a great word processor but not one of the programs used in the print industry for layouts.
