I am looking for a way to create a keyboard shortcut for excel 2008. I want to be able to merge cells using a key command instead of having to hit command+1, alignment, merge cells. I understand that macros are disabled and we have to use applescript instead. Does anyone have the script for this shortcut or know of where I can find one?

Thanks

I don't know about 2008, but in '04 you can go to (I have the German version and have to translate) View: Toolbars: Change Toolbars: Keyboard (button at the bottom): Format: Merge cells
Add a shortcut there.

Hope that helps.

Brilliant trick that still worked almost 6 years after your post. Thanks!
