2008 iMac 10.6.6 --> clean install Mavericks from USB

Upgrading a friend's 2008 iMac 10.6.6 to Mavericks from my USB thumb drive.

I believe 2007 iMacs and up can run on Mavs right? They recommend more RAM but my friend's only has 2GB I think. Still should be ok don't you think?

Maybe just upgrade to Mountain Lion for now?

They'll only be running Mail, MS Word, iPhoto etc.

You'll be good. I upgraded my 07 iMac to mavericks with usb without issues.

More RAM is always better if that iMac will take it.

It should work. However, I'd first update the OS to 10.6.8, then install Apple's Migration Assistant Utility to help with compatibility with Maverics if you're going to use Migration Assistant to transfer apps, and other personal data.
