OS X Pokemon Crystal KiGB and VBA Emulator problems saves won't load

Hello, I am having problems with loading my KiGB emulator Pokemon Crystal save files on my Mac. Okay here is my story, I downloaded the emulator last summer played Pokemon Crystal, beating the game, along with catching a couple shines. I stopped playing once the summer was over. I kept all save files in a folder knowing i was going to play on the emulator again sometime. So now i am here today trying to play my Pokemon Crystal but the save files aren't loading! The thing is that i also downloaded the pokemon yellow rom, also beating the game and the save files load perfectly fine! not a problem with them! but of course the one i want to play doesn't work! Very frustrating, I am unsure what to do, I've done research online but can't find any solutions. So i came here for help. I pray to god that i don't lose my countless hours spent into this game and that you guys can help me find the solution! Thanks a lot for you time.
