I've said it before -

I picked up my 5s on launch day - having waited since 3 AM - And, rather than the 16 GB I was planning on, a 64 GB was all that was remaining for my carrier - so I bit my tongue and bought it. It looked so stellar (space gray) and was my first iPhone, so placing it in my pocket was a new experience for me - SO much lighter and smaller and nicer to carry than my collection of android phones.

Having said that, I determined that putting any type of case on this piece of art would destroy its purpose, when in the context of daily pocket carrying.

I did, however, want to try a glass screen protector - preferably a thin one that kept the same "glass" feel as naked. And that's what I did. iLoome ScreenMate Flex - It is the best screen protector out there, IMO (Although I have determined that a screen protector isn't as necessary as I thought). It is invisible, and everyone says - "Man, your iPhone looks so nice." Yeah, that's because it is naked.

Also, I do put a very slim snap-on case every day for the Gym. Then I immediately take it off and put it in my gym bag, or use it for Snowboarding, etc... when I know I could easily drop it. Other than that? No way.

Cheers.

You say no case then talk about times that you use screen protectors and cases. Naked iPhone is fine, you don't need all of that crap.

At the end of the day you spend £500 on your new iPhone, surely it would only make sense to protect it? I love the way my iPhone feels without a case, but i would be so annoyed if I smashed my screen after paying £500 + for the iPhone.

My phone falls out of my pocket regularly. I have developed a habit of quickly checking for it about everyone 20 minutes, as well as having a Otter box to protect it when it drops. Though, I miss the days where I had it naked. But with all the times It's slipped out of my pocket, without it's case it'd likely be broken by now.

I am naked and probably always will be. I have noticed that whenever i would protect my phone like crazy with an otter box case somethig would go wrong like the home button or the power button would stop working and the apple store would give me another iphone. Not saying that it is the case that is causing this issue but it just happens. Naked iphone 5 since release and it looks great. Although now its diff since the apple store would try and fix the phone instead of giving you a new one.

64GB Silver AT&T 5S.

Especially since the 4, these are highly engineered pieces of precision beauty in my hand. Why would I cover them with a $30 piece of plastic?

Because you could cover them with a nice Apple Leather case (it's so soft and smooth - and not cold to the touch) :D

I have said this before. To me, this iphone 5/5S just seems to have the PERFECT balance with no case on it. It's so thin and has the perfect length that it just seems to sit in your hand perfectly with no case. I've had every single iPhone since release and this one feels best with no case by far. Even the thinnest of cases just changes the weight/feel of the phone, and obviously covers the looks which is a whole different topic. Screen protectors are just not necessary unless you work in a field where it will be taking impact or are VERY paranoid about seeing the lightest of surface scratches that only show in direct light. Otherwise, with decent care these screens will EASILY hold up.

With that said, there seems to be 2 sides to this. Finances play a large part in this debate, as does treatment of the phone. I treat my things very well and also am not worried about getting an extra $50 bucks of resale value OR the worst case scenario where I have to fix it after dropping it IF the glass breaks. Obviously for some people they can't afford to have these extra fees in a worst case scenario so that is understandable.

Also, over the years of having iPhones I came to the conclusion that the little nicks and scratches on phone give it a nice "aged" look or some personality. My friend has a black iphone 5 that he does not take any care of and uses without a case, has dropped onto concrete several times(actually fell off the top of a car once), and it actually has this nice "worn" look to it. And he is an extreme example of not taking any care. If money isn't a concern, what is the point of keeping a phone in perfect condition when nobody can see it's condition anyway because it's covered? To me it's more impressive that I have been using this phone since launch with no case and all I have are a few nicks on the chamfered edges.

Could not agree more. I always go naked and have applecare+. At resale time people will pay top dollar no matter what the condition if the phone has applecare+ attached to it. I have never seen a case that doesn't make an iPhone look cheap and feel cheap. Cases and screen protectors are a huge waste of money that people keep pouring good money into them. Good for the economy I guess but I'm not wasting money on them.

You spend 40K+ on a car. You don't see them wrapped in cases, window protectors, carpet covers, seat covers now do you?

Covering up a £600 phone with a £20 plastic case is something I will NEVER do.

It's naked and always will be. iPhone's are visually stunning so why cover them up?

Im on and off re naked. I keep shopping between using the Apple leather case and using naked with a sleeve. I have AppleCare plus so there's no reason I shouldn't go the whole way naked!

As for AppleCare, I've never had it before (1st time available in UK) so not entirely sure how it works? I mean, how bad has your phone to be before you can get a new one?

iPhone 5s with Otterbox commuter. I don't know what is up with all you no-life's who say "OMG the iPhones so beautiful I can't cover it up!" It's a d&@$ phone. Get a life! I'd rather have it more protected with a good case then be able to get off to th looks of a cell phone..And plus I really don't like the feeling of aluminum on the side of the 5s. Had a s4 for a couple days and much prefer that to the feel of the 5s, luckily the otterbox commuter feels nice in hand

Cars are made to withstand harsh elements.... One drop and the iPhone is done. What a dumb argument

IPhones aren't made to go out in harsh elements. Cars go out in harsh elements. What a dumb argument....

Another case of reading what you want to read...his comment was directed at those saying that the phone is too beautiful for a case not those who simply prefer to rock it naked. Reading is fundamental!

I don't use a case and my iPhone took a spill out of a moving golf cart the other week.....pissed me off to no end because it had been pristine.

Other than some scuffs/dings on the corners and a scratch on the lower part of the display, the phone is fine. But I used cases for about 2 weeks after.

Back to naked. I just cant stand to cover them up.

Mine fell out of a moving golf cart and skidded across a HORRIBLY paved cart path. Phone's fine aside from some dings and small scratch.

Far from "done":

First all, LOL at ppl posting affiliate links to cases trying to make money.

2nd, I use my iPhone 5S naked everyday, I can't stand the feel of it with a case, why would I want to make the phone thicker? I know accidents happen, and I have dropped this phone before and do have scuff scratch marks, but I will never resell a phone with my fingerprint stored in it.

I would never dream of using an iPhone without a case and a protective screen. Those phones are so breakable, much more so than Androids, that I would get paranoid.

I have an iPhone 4 from Verizon that I'm using as an iPod Touch, since I can't trade it in (being that it's still got the SIM from Verizon on it.) It still works flawlessly. And the best thing about it is, being that I used one of those Morphie cases on it, it still looks like it did when I bought it new in 2011.

Well if you restore to factory settings the stored fingerprint will be deleted surely?
