With all this talk of the iPhone 5/5s/5c, I thought I would travel back to 2007 and ask a question about my original iPhone.

When I picked it up off of eBay it came running 3.1.3, but I was wondering if anyone had a way of downgrading it? I ask because I have always wanted to play around with the original iPhone OS plus, it would be cool to go around and show off an original iPhone with the original firmware.

Thanks!

Yes, but you need to be using an old version of iTunes like 8.0 or 7.7. You can downgrade to iOS 1.1.4 easily. Anything older than that is a bit tricky to get to as you have to overcome the baseband version check.

So I just need to download an older version of iTunes and the IPSW? Sounds easy enough. I'll do it after dinner. I just need to find a computer running 8.0/7.7 or can run it. Maybe my clamshell? :D

Ok, I finally got the iPhone into DFU mode. But now I have run into another problem; when I use any version from 7.7-8.2, it comes up with an error "Cannot connect to iPod Software Update Server" or something to that effect. Is there anyway around this?

For now I'm just going to pop the iPhone back out of DFU mode.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

Ok, I think I figured out a way to do it, but there is one last piece of software I need:

ZiPhone patched by kIREmK 04.05.04.

I swear, this has been the hardest piece of software to find. Its nowhere! Can't get it from the original RapidShare links, and all the other sites that Google pulled up that supposedly have it want me to download one app or another to get the file. Does anyone here have a copy located on a server or something? It would be greatly appreciated if I could please find this file before I go crazy.
