Hi,

Is it me, or is it really slow?

I have a brand new mac mini i7. I have a 1TB external 3.0 usb HDD and a ton of usb 2.0 usb sticks.

I'm copying 22 files to the usb 2.0 stick but i seems to me this take too long... Am I correct? (See the screenshot)

Copying files with a total of 350 mb takes me as long as copying a 5gb file to my 3.0 external HDD...

Thanks

Update: i did the same test on my old macbook 2008. It takes me under a minute to copy the same files to the same usb stick ...

Do you have a cable between the USB device and your Mac?

Have all USB 2.0 devices the same problem? If not, then it is probably a device incompatibility. Some smaller and/or cheaper USB 2.0 devices use buggy controllers.

USB 2 thumbdrives typically are not full USB 2 speed (they are even slower for small files). So yeah you'll see slow speed on them no matter what computer you use.
