Viewing a movie on your iphone from external device

Hi All

I wanted to ask if there was some software (for OSX & IOS) that would allow me to leave my external HDD (Which has movie files) on at home which would be connected to my iMac and be able to stream/link it to my iPhone to watch anywhere in the world.

Be like a private connection to my device, if there anything like this?

If there is anything like that, you better have decent wideband UPLOAD speed at home, Several mbits/sec. Is that the case?

XBMC for iOS

or find a decent UPNP player that will play off your computer
PS3 media server is good for UPNP play from your PC don't know about mac.
