Hi does anyone know if there is something we can do with the first gen silver macbook pro not being able to upgrade to maverick due to no retina display.
i want to upgrade some software but am stuck at snow leopard i believe.
it's like 10 years old. I was hoping it would still be able to use but can't upgrade the os

I was just getting ready to post something snarky like "It's only 5 years old, not 10!" but then I realized it's almost 10. 8 years next month if I recall correctly. Oh how time flies.

BigEasy is correct though, Snow Leopard (10.6) is the highest you can go. Lion required a Core 2 Duo processor, a first gen MacBook Pro would have a Core Duo. Snow Leopard is still pretty well supported though and should be useful for most folks.

Feb 2006 the first MB pro was released, according to MacTracker.

Iv'e got a Black MacBook from the same era and SL is the last it can run.
