For photo stuff, NEC PA271, with their calibration hardware and software. For me, it finally solved the issue of getting prints from my printer (Canon Pro9000) that actually had the same "luminosity" as what I was seeing on the screen (in quotes because, obviously, the prints are not backlit and the monitor is). I love this monitor. If you can find one, you can get it decently priced because there is a new version that just came out (I paid about $1,100 for the monitor and calibration package last December).

For music stuff, I have a cheapo HP 24 inch monitor. Its IPS, but nothing special (cost less than $200 on closeout at the local Microcenter).

Did you ever have probs with the u2713h? I have this screen hooked to a pc. I was considering to connect a mac mini to it (dp to mdp). Apparantly there are probs, so now I'm considering an iMac.

I am using both u2713h monitors connected to my Mac Pro with a DP to MDP cable with no issues at all.

Who's using 27" Crossover? Please give review, thanks.

Two of my 4 monitors are crossover Q27s. There are really nice for the price. Only downside is the dvi-d requires a dvi-d to mini displayport adapter. This combo doesn't work with nMP and AMD drivers in 10.9.2. Apple is supposedly looking into it. We'll see. The Displays themselves have been great for almost 2 years connected to a oMP 4,1.

Berlin formerly London
2 x 23inch ACD's one on DVI and the other on Display port.
( both from about 2008/9 and never had a problem )

I don't do any graphics work, the space across 2 is great for either Pro Tools or
Logic - Arrangement one side and Mixer etc on the other.

I love the "matt" displays, anything glossy and reflective is just unworkable
for me.

I am using a 2009 iMac via Target Display Mode (and anxiously await the new Apple 4k monitor).

I love the seamless glass on the Apple displays.

Backlit isn't so much of an issue. If you want to perfectly match the brightness you need a small print viewer. You can get a much closer match that way. In any case the perceived luminosity of a print varies somewhat by ambient lighting, because it is a matter of how much light is kicked back in the direction of the viewer.

nMP Monitor

Currently two Eizos on an Ergotron Dual Monitor stand. One is the Eizo CG21W with hardware color calibration the other is a Eizo S2433W.
Will replace this eventually with one 34 inch LG 34UM95-P Ultrawide monitor - well, if the first review show that quality is excellent.

2011 27" Apple Cinema Display

The glossy does not bother me. It broke (would just go black) after 2-3 years. Needed to replace the logic board, LED panel and some other part. I paid for the cheapest part and Apple picked up the rest. They seem to know these monitors are not that great. I bought it mostly for the looks and the ease of use with my 2011 MacBook Pro. I enjoy the decent enough speakers. Color is pretty decent.

HP ZR2740w 27" IPS 1440p $399 at Microcenter. $450 at B&H. I like these monitors. I have two more on my 4930k. Displayport in. No color controls, but the color is good out of the box. I calibrated it and it did not need much. I think the lack of inputs and controls keeps the price pretty decent on these. 3 year warranty too.

Neither of these are awesome monitors. No 10-bit color here. Gradients will band slightly. But the HP is a pretty good buy I think.

I have a Dell U2713HM being delivered tomorrow. Anyone know if they work well at their highest resolution when connected to a late model 2013 rMRP 13" Iris Pro?

I'm going to hook it up to a PC initially, but would like to see if they work with the rMBP I mentioned, because then I'll get one. :)

And do I need to get any special adapters to take advantage of the highest resolution of the MacBook on the Dell monitor?
