So I've got a fairly large capacity drive just sitting around that I'm not using anymore, so I thought I might go ahead and use it as a second TMachine drive in addition to the one I normally use.

Like, I'd just plug it in every once in a while to have another copy just in case.

Are there in issues with this? Can OSX keep track of both backups, so that the 2nd drive doesn't screw up my normal back up or anything?

Thanks

Yes, that will work just fine. You need to be on Mountain Lion or newer for this though. Just attach the second disk and OS X will take turns backing up to the two disks. Or if you reattach the second disk after a gap in time, it will just pick up where it left off.

Cool.

Yep, that system's on 10.8.

And yeah, it'll only be attached periodically as opposed to the regular TMachine volume I leave attached all the time.
