I need help with some scripting

im trying to get a script sorted that uses the 3.5mm input jack on the IMac

script ideas
first off i want it to run on start up
and i want it to open two apps once sound is detected
then stop listening until one main app is closed
but i'm bloody awful at scripting

thanks if anyone can help
