Hi guys,

I am considering buying a 2tb version today!

Little unsure on setup though!

My router is downstairs and want the Capsule upstairs plugged into Mac!

I want to use purely for backing up iMac and MacBook! And create a guest network does it have to be plugged directly into router?

Thanks

If the router that's downstairs is an AirPort, then the Time Capsule can wirelessly extend the same network name etc. If it is not then it can only wirelessly join the network and act as a dumb switch and hard drive (NAS). You need the Time Capsule to be wired in to the router for those functions. Don't worry you can back up wirelessly though!
