Sprint Offers Up To $650 For New Framily Subscribers

Sprint on Friday announced a new credit incentive to encourage customers to switch to the carrier, offering new Sprint Framily subscribers up to $650 in trade-in and early termination fee credits.
"At Sprint, we believe in 'Happy Connecting' through the value of a Sprint Framily Plan," said Jeff Hallock, Sprint chief marketing officer. "We are seeing great momentum with the Sprint Framily plan, and we want to make it as easy as possible for customers to join our Framily."

When customers sign up for a Sprint Framily Plan, which has prices as low as $25 per line with 7 to 10 lines, they can get a $350 Visa prepaid card to cover early termination fees and a device credit of up to $300, for a total of $650.

Customers are required to bring their existing phone numbers to the carrier and choose a new phone when they subscribe, giving up their existing phones for credit. Customers will also need to submit a claim to receive reimbursement for early termination fees, providing Sprint with a bill showing the exact termination fees for each line.

Sprint's $650 offering emulates T-Mobile's January UnCarrier 4.0 initiative, which also gives customers up to $650 to switch to T-Mobile. Unlike T-Mobile's promotion, Sprint's offering is temporary and will end on May 8.

I'd love to switch since 4G is now available but I'm going to have to wait for the new iPhones to be released. Certainly don't want to sign a two your contract with the iPhone 6 right around the corner.

Apparently the 'momentum' of the new 'Framily' plan requires that Sprint increase their incentives to attract customers.

Of all the options available to me in the US, Sprint would be very close to, or at the bottom.

Interesting, yet confusing way to put it. I like how AT&T just kept it simple. I know exactly ZERO people (close and regular family and friends, anyway) that use Sprint. Just 10 years ago, everyone I knew had Sprint.

Unless it's paid for by your employer, has the best coverage where you live or all you can afford....I don't see why anyone would switch to them voluntarily. Their data network is pitiful.

I wish I could shake the hand of the person who came up with this marketing scheme. You have to trade in your phone. They're basically buying your phone and then you're using that money to pay your own ETF. This is NOT an incentive or a deal. They're not going to cut a check to AT&T.

I simply will never even consider them while their phones are hard locked to their network and visa versa they won't let me bring my own. They could put my unlocked 5s easily on their network but choose not to. Therefore their CEO is stupid. Therefore that is why sprint is dying, because their CEO IS STUIPID.

Yeah, my parents both have Sprint 4Ss, and it sucks that when their contracts are up, I can't use one as a tracfone-type device. The absence of SIM cards make it basically a brick after you're done with it.

My brother went from Verizon to AT&T, and loves the 4G speed. Not sure which I'll use when I graduate from my cruddy tracfone :rolleyes:

Att is offering something similar. I don't remember how many lines can be in a family line. It's either eight or ten. Either way that's a maximum of $800-$1000 AND they don't require contracts.

I am currently on AT&T. I have been for years. Having said that I am not particularly loyal to them and have been thinking about switching and especially taking the big leap of buying unlocked phones instead of the two year contract.

As I think about this I realized that in picking the carrier, it will come down to exactly three issues. First, is the ability to talk and surf at the same time. Right now that is only AT&T and tmobile. Verizon and sprint still can't do that. Second is which offer the best data service (reliability and speed) where I live and use the phone 99% of my time. Last, but definately not least is price.

When the iPhone 6 comes out, I will have a very strong urge to make this decision as I will be looking to break my contract on the 5s. Emotionally I would love to stick it to AT&T for the way they have treated me. However, I will focus on the three items. I don't think Verizon or Sprint will fix the first criteria in time so it may be a two man race. And that is unfortunate since Tmobile is still not that great of a service in my area, but things can change between now and the 4th quarter.
