@ katiekiele:

Yes, those commands are for apple users. Basically, there were 2 solutions given on this thread. One is easier than the other. hijang recommended just copying and pasting a command into Terminal. Terminal is an application you can find in your utilities folder. On my computer, utilities folder is inside the Applications folder which you find in Finder. So open Terminal, and then copy and paste this:

cp -r /Applications/thinkTDA/thinkorswim\ from\ TD\ AMERITRADE\ Uninstaller.app /Applications/thinkTDA/thinkorswim\ Uninstaller.app

Then press enter. Not much happens after you hit enter but no worries. Immediately open the think or swim application like your normally would and this time it should update correctly, rather then getting stuck. And then you should be back to being able to use the application. Just close out Terminal without typing anything more in it, and your good to go.

To answer my own question from a minute ago, all my old charts are still there, and my alerts, etc.

Thanks guys for the help!

Still getting stuck on new thinkorswim update

UPDATE: Got the platform running--finally!

If anyone is getting an error of (com.hp.help.tocgenerator): Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds

There is a link on the Apple site that got us up and running.

https://discussions.apple.com///thread/2788162

Also, the voice recognition/dictation function was ON and we had to turn it OFF to get rid of the spinning beach ball.

After days of trying to get the new tos version to launch, plus an hour on hold for tech support and then an hour of them controlling my computer on Tuesday, I still cannot get tos to launch. It crashes when it gets to the loading point that has "My Trade." We have uninstalled the platform, launched it on different browsers, loaded and reloaded java---I am at my wit's end. They have generated a ticket to try to figure this out, but they said my situation is different than others --only a few people were experiencing the program hanging up at that loading point.

Does anyone have any idea of something else to try? It was working just fine Friday.

Thanks so very, very much for any ideas.

Try uninstalling the application and re-downllading it after you update java.

You will lose your workspace, unless you pull out the files and then put them back in once its installed, but theres no guarantee the workspace will load back up.

----------

You are correct. It doesn't look as sharp as previous version.

Hopefully it's fixed in the next update, its brutal right now

Thanks so much for the suggestion. We have uninstalled and reinstalled the platform at least a dozen times, as well as java. The tos support person who took control of the computer also did that. But thank you for replying --I appreciate the help.

I had same stuation. Even they connect to my computer directly but who was on the other side of telephone he try again and again what write on web sites and forms. I try to explain "it doesn't work in this way I try 25 times" but no delete TOS files download new one install back and he stuck too..
As I understand who is answering phone they are not specialist just they do a few things as they learn, like robot, when there is new problem they badly stuck...

So brifly I took care myself, I was close to format so I uninstall many program, (all java versions include) I change windows language I am using different then english I want to try last one more time before format and magic it works...

I don't know what I did correct but I am sure all sofware don't know what they are doing too (-I have problem -uninstal program -I have problem with computer reset computer that all what they know)

TOS can't connect using ethernet cable

Dear All,

I'd like to kindly ask some insight about what happened with my TOS application. I'm running on Mavericks and I've updated the latest Java & updated TOS application. However, when using ethernet cable, I couldn't login to my TOS application and stuck at Now Loading. This is very odd as I've tried running TOS on Ubuntu through VMWare and it works fine. I've attached the log file indicating the error at the time of login using ethernet connection. Thank you in advance for your kind guidance.

TOS can't connect using ethernet cable

I am having the same problem.
Repeating re-install the OSx and the Java did not help.
I can't tell what the logs say.
Hoping someone at the forum can help as talking to TDA is kind of difficult...

Solution!!

Ok, I've finally figured out what's happening with the error:
1. The problem is located in this line:
24.01.14 08:02:19 ERROR system.err - java.net.UnknownHostException: fm-dyn-140-0-141-83.fast.net.id: fm-dyn-140-0-141-83.fast.net.id: nodename nor servname provided, or not known
This particular line means that "fm-dyn-140-0-141-83.fast.net.id" isn't recognized as a hostname due to the Java 7 update
2. The solution is to go to the terminal and type
sudo nano /private/etc/hosts
3. Under localhost 127.0.0.1 localhost, add a line
localhost hostname
In my case, the hostname is fm-dyn-140-0-141-83.fast.net.id
4. Control-O to save and then Control-X
5. Try open the TOS application again and it should work

problem running TOS on home network but fine for work

I installed the TOS version in January and had many problems. I had to upgrade the memory of my macbook to be able to upgrade the OSX so I could run the current version of TOS. it works fine at work thru our network but does not on my home network. I have a PC running TOS at home and it works fine. any ideas why TOS cannot be run on the macbook on my home network:(

Login issues

I am unable to login to the TOS since upgrading to Mac OSX. I continue to receiving a Now Loading message after I enter my username and password but it never resolves. Anyone else experience the same issue. Any help much appreciated.

Thanks,

Ray
