Got me thinking about how many cycles peoples have done after my battery gave up last year, went to go buy a new OEM Battery from Apple @ £100 a hit and the battery had second wind!

Still on Original battery from New (2007), use it every day and...

1015 cycles later... Still going strong! lol

There are dozens of threads on this. Everyone's usage and needs are different, so it makes no sense to compare. This should answer most, if not all, of your battery questions:

I bought the 2009 macbook pro that was supposed to have the ridiculously long lasting battery, i got 600 cycles before it said it was time to replace. I just got a new macbook pro so we'll see how this one does

I'm amazed!

My MacBook (4,1) has almost 2000 charge cycles on the battery:

1196 isn't "almost 2000" cycles. Also, if you haven't calibrated your battery, your health reading could be grossly inaccurate.

Stop calibrating your battery. Doing so is shortening your battery's life by putting unnecessary cycles on it and you should not be fully draining your battery unless it's absolutely necessary, because there is no AC power available. The built-in batteries in the newer Mac unibody notebooks come pre-calibrated and do not require regular calibration like the removable batteries in older Apple notebooks. Calibration will not improve your battery health. It only makes battery readings more accurate and is not required on your MBP.

Also, the "Service Battery" indicator appears when your battery health drops below 80%, as yours has done. You can continue to use your battery until it no longer holds sufficient charge to meet your needs, at which time you can have it replaced.

Read the FAQ linked in post #2 of this thread for more details.

My Battery Health and Cycles

I bought my Late-2007 Black MacBook in September of 2013, and I was told by the seller that the battery had just been replaced brand new OEM a few months ago. When I pull up iStat Menus, I see that I have only 166 cycles and that my battery still has 100% health! I get about 4 or 5 hours when doing light tasks, but if I get on MC or something heavy that goes down to 2 1/2 at best . Hopefully the addition of a SSD will help me to have better performance and battery life!

I think it is very normal because MC will kick your CPU 100% especially on old device. I am surprised more that you can get 4 or 5 hours on doing light task.

My battery already gave out on 200+ cycles. Only hold around 1 hour+ of charge. It is already swollen.

Folks with late 2012 & late 2013 MacBook Pros please chime in!

1). How many keep extensively plugged in and maintained a min on cycles post?
Any issues encountered?

2). How many keep cycling and calibrating the battery as prescribed by Apple's site, what is your cycle count and have you noticed any issues?

Conclude - With, say only 2 cycles since you purchased it, say a year ago, would there be any likelihood of issues down the road? Anyone done this and are still problem free?

Thank you I love you all!

1636 on my late 07' BlackBook. Replaced the first battery long ago and forget how many charges were on it.

Having it plugged in all the time works better for my battery than using the battery alot.
