Apple Takes Jab at Samsung in Full Page Earth Day Newspaper Ad
Apple is honoring Earth Day in a new ad found on newspapers across the UK that appears to also include a jab at rival Samsung, reports CNET.
The ad, which comes with a headline stating "There are some ideas we want everyone to copy," includes two paragraphs that allude to the company's ongoing patent trial with Samsung. Apple notes that there is "one area" where the company "encourages others" to imitate, calling for initiatives that are similar to its recent environmental efforts.
The ad is one part of Apple's "Better" environmental campaign launched yesterday ahead of today's Earth Day event, which included a video about the ecological efforts of its Apple Campus 2 project and the expansion of its recycling program to include all products at its stores. Apple will be updating its store logos with green leaf accents and encouraging its employees to wear commemorative green shirts, as an event at its headquarters in Cupertino, California is also planned.
Update: The newspaper ad is also appearing in Australia, and presumably other countries as well.

since its mixing the trial with environmental causes i have to ask is samsung suspect in that department? wouldnt that cast a doubt over apple since it does business with samsung?
however i applaud them for taking a full ad to promote environmental causes although i dont think its right to infuse it with the trial and the holier than though tone is a bit ironic considering the environmental debates around apple the last 10 years or so.

So wasting aluminium (it has to be re-smelted at a guess) by milling blocks is green? Wouldn't that take more energy to produce than casting individual pieces en masse? Are they building solar farms for the factories in China?
Or is this just for the media, to make Apple look good in the U.S press, and to gain pats on the back from Greenpeace. Sure seems like it..
But good on Apple for announcing their green intentions, I doubt for one second that it is self serving..... Guffaw...

No coincidence we see this Ad *now*. The lawsuit is just about to end, and the jury will render a verdict starting next week. I´m sure Samsungs laywers will raise objections to this without success
Great work Apple!
