iPod touch iPod touch iMessage issues

Hello -

I recently upgraded by iphone4s to an iphone5c. My itouch will no longer connect to my phone number for imessage.

I can get my wife's iphone5c to connect with a phone number on the itouch but when I log in only the email address is available.

Any ideas what is wrong or how I fix?
