Hi everyone.

I just purchased a U2 iPod I good condition. The 30gb is a bit small, I have an iPod 160gb 7th gen classic so the hard drive is quite small...

What hard drive can I get for this version without adding a new backside, as I see in the some have done to fit a bigger drive.

Is it best to get a ssd, cf or new hard drive for this one.

Hope someone here can help!

I think most any of the slim single platter 1.8" hdd's would work. With the 30GB model, I remember reading something about it having a song capacity limit, but it may only apply to the 5th gen and not the 5.5. They're easy to find on ebay.

Otherwise, a CF to ZIF adapter and a 64/128GB CF card would be good too because it would much more resistant to drops and bumps.

I did see an upgrade kit on a site at one point, it was a 120GB HDD with a battery and opening tools.
