I have 2 powerbooks, both 12 inch but one is an 867mhz model and the other is a 1.5ghz. I got an offer from someone to trade it for their 3gs an 8gb model. As I already have a 12 inch powerbook and don't need 2 I am considering this to add it to my Apple collection. would this be a good trade of equal value?

I wouldn't think so, an 8 GB model is pretty small, and you can buy a 3GS for $50, wheras you could pick up $120 for both PBs.

Good Trade?

Well it was a response to an ad I have up, got it for free so it would be win win either way. Oh and I'm keeping my 1.5ghz model.

I want one! That isn't a good trade at all actually.

Don't fret, he seems to have lost interest as he didn't answer me. Guess I'll just hang onto it.

It's a great machine, I do use the 1.5 model more often though. It has a fresh install of Leopard right now and I bumped the ram to 640mb. Just part of my ever expanding (perhaps way too much) Apple collection.

How much did you pay?

$34.98

Need to buy these, waiting on the iBook to show up so I get a better idea for what it needs since the pictures didn't show the bottom or any pictures of it turned on.

Battery (possibly)
1GB stick of Ram (has 512MB)
Power Adapter (bought)
Rubber feet (possibly since usually they are all missing)
2 Rubber things on display (broken off too)
SuperDrive (CD-Rom isn't appealing!)

Bit of a fixer but should be fine for a kicker laptop, cheap and tough :D

I think you use the 3Gs with jailbreak and xbmc installed. Then you can hook it up to a tv using hdmi and use it like a media center.. I mean it has some value maybe.

I'd personally prefer a mac though

You'll probably have $50 - $75 in it by the time you are all done upgrades, cleaning supplies, etc. Either way, the fun of working on them is worth it!

I agree with that last sentence 100%. The $45 I paid for my iBook G3 has "paid" for itself in the fun department.

Problem solved itself, just sold it for a good price for the buyer.
