Introduction to politics?

Hi everyone!


I'm an engineering student but I'm lately very bored of engineering. I just finished reading the communist manifesto (I just randomly picked it up because I was bored). Before reading this book I was never interested in politics and the world history.
I just needed some advice regarding how do I know more about politics and the history of the world ( I am majorly interested in the contemporary politics and history behind it.). I would be sincerely grateful if someone could point me in the right direction.

PS: I can always look up for stuff on google but to be frank, I don't know what I'm looking for.

We could learn a little from bees, but this will rile "it's all about me" conservatives. ;)

I've never read the Communist Manifesto. What did you think about it? My impression is that communism is not necessarily bad, but because of it's nature it allows corruption (a human failing) to run rampant. Not to imply that corruption can only be found in communism or socialism.

I'm a political science major. The best thing to do would be to take an upper level political science class that deals with a subject you are interested in, assuming your university offers one. I took classes in the Arab Spring, post Communist democracies, international relations strategies, defense policy, and others and thought they were all much better than the intro to poli sci classes. The 101 classes are way too general IMO and don't really delve into a topic enough.

Since you're already a student why not sign up to some political courses?

Oh how times have changed.:cool:
I was a student in the 1960's and I guarantee that the world back then would have jumped for joy, if students back then had been a lot less interested in politics.:p

I remember the sit ins, the anti Vietnam rallies, the marches against capitalism.

The banners "All property is theft" or "Don't trust anyone over 30" "Don't become the people your parents want, become the people you want to be"




Communism is like religion it's all alright in theory, but human nature corrupts the ideal very quickly.:(

Firstly you should start read political news in news paper & watch political news in news channel. They will help you to take interest in politics.
