I was watching 13 assassins on netflix on my rMBP and noticed the movie was quite dark. i had the brightness turned to the max as well. for example, when someone was wearing a black robe, all you could see was black - no folds, no creases, etc. just seemed like all shadows.
i connected it to my 27" apple display and the movie was much brighter. i could see the folds and creases in the persons robe. I paused it at the same scene as well and did a side by side comparison. it was clearly more detailed on the 27" external.
i noticed when connected to the external, the color profile on the rMBP changed to apple LED.
has anyone else noticed that the blacks are too dark on their rMBP? i tried changing the display profile and it helped a little (changed the gamma to 1.8 instead of the standard). however when i'm not watching a movie, the whites seem so washed out if i'm just surfing the web.
i don't want to have to keep switching profiles.
help!
