Hi all,

I have just purchased the Samsung S23C350H monitor that has a resolution of 1920 x 1080px. I have connected it to my macbook pro mid-2009 through HDMI (I bought the Mini Display port to HDMI adaptor) but I can't use the monitor at its full resolution. When I select 1080px, the screen just turns on and off every second and is unusable (I cannot even access the menu on the screen). The highest resolution I can use is only 720px, which is useless.

Any idea how to fix this?

Many thanks in advance for the answers!

Mirroring is deselected?

System Preferences > Displays >> Arrangement >>> Mirror Displays (but know, that the display with the lowest resolution determines the maximum resolution used on both, thus one display will have a lower than native resolution, except when both displays have the same native resolution)

yes, but when I deselect it, I cannot even choose the resolution and it keeps blinking (it looks like the monitor is turning on and off)
