On startup, fan runs at 6500. Unit it not overheating, have manually set fan at 2100 rpm, and cpu temp is 49C.

I've tried the usual SMC and PRAM resets to no avail.

Also tried removing the MacBook_Air3.2 id kext to no avail.

Any other had this issue?

Still running Snow Leopard 10.6.4

Thanks

Well, looks like a hardware problem with the temp sensor. It's either failed or the connector came loose.

I had this problem with my old Mac mini and installed the smcFanControl app and that fixed it for me. I just have it set to automatically start when my mini boots. BTW - I am running Snow Leopard on that mini.

Interestingly, this seems to be an intermittent problem, so I'm hoping it's just a loose connector.

When the fans run uncontrollably at high-speed, I use Macs Fan Control and manually set the fan speed.
